CMMB to Achieve Full National Coverage in China by Year-end 2009

CSMBC (China Satellite Mobile Broadcasting Corporation), the national operating company of CMMB, recently announced that as of August 2009 basic CMMB (China Multimedia Mobile Broadcasting) coverage covered 191 prefecture-level cities throughout China, the Sohu IT News reported on September 2. It is projected that the CMMB network will achieve full national coverage by year-end 2009, covering 337 prefecture-level cities throughout China. Meanwhile, CSMBC recently also launched a promotion package for CMMB with a special subscription fee of 36 RMB (US$5.3; US$1 = 6.8 RMB), whereby users can access six CMMB channels at a relatively cheap fee until the end of June 2010. After the commercial trial period, CMMB subscription fees will be back to normal and be charged at 12 RMB (US$1.76) per month.
